Anti-Iron Deficiency Program

East-Kazakhstan Regional Health Care department and chief internist service has developed a program "Prevention and Treatment of Iron Deficiency Anemia in the East Kazakhstan Region."

Iron deficiency anemia is considered to be a wide-spread anemic syndrome. Pubescent women, pregnant women, and infants are the most vulnerable group. Iron deficiency anemia prophylactics and treatment program implementation will allow to decrease morbidity, maternal and child mortality. Furthermore, it will also influence demographic policy and reduce expenses of iron deficiency anemia treatment. Program has two realization stages:

Stage 1. 2001-2003- preparation and implementation of immediate and urgent measures (exposition and treatment of middle and heavy degreeiron deficiency anemia).

Stage 2. 2003-2010-implementation of the most important measures of the program (development and preparation of methodical development for information-educational system, for PSMP specialist training, providing patients with necessary ferropreparations, to give highly-skilled aid to the people with IDA complications, who are in hematology departments, perinatal centres, or the Regional Children's hospital.

Program "Arterial Hypertonia"

East-Kazakhstan Regional Health Care Department and Chief Internist Service has developed the program, "Prophylactics and Treatment of Arterial Hypertonia". Arterial Hypertonia is one of the wide spread diseases in the world. In East-Kazakhstan, it is considered to be one of the main factors of cardiovascular diseases. Arterial Hypertonia is a national-social problem. Realization of the program will help to reduce morbidity, disablement and mortality. Working age people can be cured of ischemic heart disease and insult.

Moreover, project implementation will increase quality of life of that people, who is suffering from cardiovascular disease.

The program consists of two realization stages:

1. 1997-2000. - preparation and realization of urgent events. (propaganda of the sound(healthy) way of life, supplement of the primary healthcare team(section) with staff and resources, to provide the patients with effective diagnostic and treatment help).

2. 2001-2010- realization of the program main events. (creation and realization of current information-educational system, strengthening of the first aid in the aim of Arterial Hypertony prophylactics and treatment, providing of the patients with necessary hypotensic preparation on available prices, providing the people with highly qualified aid in case of cardiovascular diseases, in an cardiological, neurological and reabilitation offices).

Regional Republican Proph Pathology Center

East-Kazakhstan region is one of the biggest industrial centers in the East of the Republic, where one can find large mining, metallurgic, atomic and other productions with harmful for health working conditions.

In 1959, Presidium of Science Academy of Kazakhstan, in Ust-Kamenogorsk city decided to open a branch of Science Research Institute of Local Pathology (now it is called: Scientific Center of Hygiene and Epidemiology).

Now it has:

- Department for In-patients (therapeutic, neurological, allergological and toxicological)

- Consultative- Diagnostic Department (Clinics-diagnostic Lab, Departments of Radiology and Physiotherapy)

- Scientific-Diagnostic Lab (Functional Diagnostics, Clinical Biochemistry, Toxicology and Immunology), which is provided by up-to-date high technology.

Annually, more than 2 thousand patients get high quality treatment. Recently, new serving methods have been introduced. They are: Daily Permanent Establishment, Consultations of Specialists and Out-of-Site Prophylactic Medical Examinations, e.t.c.
Proph Pathology center provides the following services:

- functional cure, spirography, reovasography, supersonic examination of internals, hastrofibroscopy, biochemical researches

- Diagnosing and cure by specific methods

- Cure of bronchial asthma and other diseases, using new up-to date technologies.
